Sibal Sets Up 5 Sub-Committees on Minority Education

Government says the minorities communities, especially Muslims, are most backward after scheduled tribes in the country. The Human Resource Development Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal today said that solid steps need to be taken for their uplift. Mr. Sibal was talking to reporters in New Delhi after chairing the first meeting of reconstituted National Monitoring Committee for Minorities Education, NMCME.

Mr. Sibal said that various issues concerned with the education of minorities were discussed in this meeting . The government is going to set up sub-committees on various issues. The NMCME will meet again after three month and will discuss the recommendations of the committees. Mr. Sibal said that government's goal is that minorities should have access to the education and should get quality education.

Earlier, the Minister of State for Human Resource Development Minister Dr. D. Purandeswari said that government has rolled our several initiative such as Prime Minister's New 15 Point programme for the welfare of the Minorities and is implementing the recommendations of the Sachar Committee.
