Congress Leader Kapil Sibal today attacked BJP's Prime
ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on 2002 Godhra riots and called for a probe by an independent agencies into the Gujarat riots.
Talking to reporters in New Delhi Sibal said like in corruption cases, the Supreme Court should have handed over Gujarat riots probe to an independent agency as the SIT had little powers to arrest or carry out searches.
The Congress leader said that there is no 'Modi wave' in the county as BJP leaders are not confident that Narendra Modi alone will bring them the required numbers in the Lok Sabha.
He said that this is demonstrated by BJP's tie ups with regional parties. Sibal added that if Modi is so confident, he should contest only from Varanasi and not stand from Gujarat as well.
