The new Chief Minister of Nagaland Shurhozelie Liezietsu who would be sworn tomorrow, has been elected to the Nagaland Assembly eight times from Northern Angami assembly constituency.

It will be his ninth entry into the State Legislative Assembly as member after the swearing tomorrow.

Joined politics in 1969, Shurhozelie is one of the founding members of Nagaland's first regional party, United Democratic Front (UDF) and later Naga National Democratic Party (NNDP). Leizietsu voluntarily did not contest the 2013 State Assembly election and remained as Chairman of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland and allowed his son Khriehu Liezietsu to contest the election who was later inducted as Advisor for Youth Resources, Sports and Music Task Force in the Zeliang government.

Shurhozelie will have to get elected within six months, probably from the Northern Angami-1 seat, which his son is likely to vacate in his favour.
