The Kerala High Court today granted bail to CPI-M Kannur District Secretary P Jayarajan, arrested in connection with the Shukkoor murder case. The Court ordered Jayarajan to furnish a bond for 25,000 rupees and two solvent sureties for the like sum.It rejected the prosecution demand that Jayarajan should not be allowed entry in Kannur district. Jayarajan was arrested early this month in connection with the murder of Shukkoor, an IUML activist. Shukkoor was killed by CPI-M supporters in February, suspecting him to be behind the attack on P Jayarajan and CPI-M MLA T V Rajesh, when the duo visited Ariyil in Kannur district. Police say that the two leaders did not act to prevent the plan to kill Shukkoor, despite being aware of the plan.
