In order to facilitate smooth sailing and security of the pilgrims, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) will soon be introducing Radio Frequency Identification Card (RFID) facility that will replace the existing yatra slip format. AIR Jammu Correspondent reports that every year around one crore pilgrims from all over the country pay obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine at Katra in Jammu. Shrine Board CEO, Anshul Garg said, the RFID card will keep track on pilgrims, especially those who go missing or get separated from groups or families at the time of rush. He said, the trials in this regard are already in progress and it will be launched in coming weeks. The pilgrim possessing the RFID card can be tracked throughout the 13 km long journey from base camp in Katra to the Bhawan at Trikuta Hill. He informed that it will be a one-time use card, and pilgrims will have to deposit it on their return. He said, this facility will be issued free of cost and counters are set up to issue fully laminated fiber-rich RFID card. AIR correspondent reports, every day around twenty to 25,000 devotees reach Katra base camp to pay obeisance at the Bhawan.
