Shooter Jitu Rai clinches India's first Gold and second medal of Incheon Asian Games

Shooter Jitu Rai has given India it's first Gold of the Incheon Asian Games. In the Men's 50-metre Pistol event finals this morning, the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Gold medalist shot a total of 186.2 points to beat Vietnam's Phuong Nguyen and clinch the coveted yellow metal. Shooter Shweta Chaudhary had, earlier, opened India's account by winning a Bronze in the 10-metre Air Pistol event. She scored 176.4 to finish third.In Badminton, the Indian Women's team sailed into the quarterfinals. Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and the pair of Siki Reddy and Pradnya Gadre won three of the 5 matches against Macau to give India an unassailable 3-0 lead, and a place in the last-8 stage. The Women's team will now take on Thailand in the quarterfinals today at 3 PM Indian time. However, the Men's team had a tough luck in the team event as they lost to Hosts South Korea 3-Nil in the Round-of-16. K Srikanth, P Kashyap and the pair of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy lost their respective matches.In Tennis, the Indian Women's team advanced to the second round beating Oman, 3-0.Indian Judokas after a good start in the events fail to move ahead. In the Men's 60kg pre-quarterfinals Navjot Chana lost to Mongolia's Boldbaatar Ganbat. Shushila Devi lost to Japan's Emi Yamagishi in Women's 48kg quarterfinal match. China is currently at the top of the medals tally with 4 Gold and 2 Bronze, while Korea is second with 1 Gold and 2 Silver. With a Gold and a Bronze, India is third.
