In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP legislature party formally elected Shivraj Singh Chouhan as its leader this evening. In a meeting held at state BJP headquarters in capital Bhopal, senior most BJP MLA Babulal Gaur proposed the name of Mr. Chouhan which was seconded by four MLAs. Our Bhopal correspondent reports that senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Rajiv Pratap Rudy were present as the party observers in the meeting.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan will take oath as chief minister tomorrow in a function held at Bhopal’s Jambooree Maidan. Several senior BJP leaders including Rajnath Singh and Narendra Modi will attend the swearing in ceremony. Some prominent industrialists are also likely to attend the function. Mr. Chouhan will set a new record by taking oath as chief minister for the third consecutive time. BJP had won 165 seats in the 230 member state assembly in the recently held elections.
