Shivraj Patil lauds Punjab steps to boost Indo-Pak ties

Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil has lauded the eminent Pakistani doctors rendering their services during a two-day Mega Medical Camp organized by the Punjab government at village Badal, which started on Sunday. He said that such initiatives would play a pivotal role in further strengthening the ties between India and Pakistan.Mr. Patil said, frequent visits of the medical fraternity of both the countries would not only upgrade their medical skills but would also go a long way in providing quality health care facilities in the Sub Continent. He said SAARC like organizations could play a vital role in initiating such gestures.Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal who initiated the medical camp, reiterated his government’s firm commitment to eradicate cancer from the state. He said, the government has already enhanced the sum reserved for giving relief to the cancer patients, so that they could avail quality treatment.More than 300 doctors along with 500 para-medical staff are giving free medical treatment to people for major ailments in this camp which would conclude this evening.
