In Haryana, the minimum temperature at Hissar today dipped to 3.2 degrees Celsius which is three notches below normal range. According to Met Department, Narnaul also shivered at a low of 4 degree Celsius, Ambala at 5.4 degree Celsius and Bhiwani settled at 6.4 degree Celsius.Rohtak and Karnal recorded a minimum of 6 degree Celsius each. In Punjab, intense cold gripped Ludhiana which recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4 degree Celsius. Amritsar recorded a low of 5.4 degree Celsius while the minimum in Patiala was 5 degree Celsius. The Met said fog reduced visibility early this morning in many places, including Karnal and Rohtak, in Haryana and at Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab. The cold conditions are likely to continue over the next two days in the region.In Tamilnadu, rain continued to lash the coastal district for more than a week. Incessant rain have taken heavy toll on people, infrastructure, agriculture and cattle. In Cuddalur alone, the death toll is at 29 raising the total number of deaths in the State to 181. The State Chief Minister Mr. M. Karunanidhi has called for a state cabinet meeting today to discuss the relief matter and to take stock of the situation. Earlier eight top officials of the Government were appointed to visit the rain hit areas and assess the damages caused by the monsoon. Almost all the reservoirs in the state have reached the maximum level.
