Delhi High Court today held former IPS Officer Ravi Kant Sharma not guilty in the murder case of journalist Shivani Bhatnagar. It upheld the appeal of the former IPS officer R.K. Sharma and two others challenging their conviction in a lower Delhi court in the murder case.

Apart from Sharma, Satya Prakash and Sri Bhagwan, the other accused were given the benefit of doubt by the High Court.

The court held that the evidences against the three were inconclusive.

Shivani Bhatnagar, a journalist with the Indian Express was found murdered in her East Delhi Apartment on January 23, 1999. Sharma was awarded life sentence in March 2008. He has been in Tihar jail for the last nine years.
