In a massive fillip to their Olympic dreams, four Indian boxers have been selected by the International Olympics Committee (IOC) for a scholarship. The selected boxers are World Championships' bronze-medallist Shiva Thapa in 56 kilogram, Commonwealth Games silver-medallist Mandeep Jangra in 69 kilogram, Gaurav Bidhuri (52 kilogram) and Sumit Sangwan in 69 kilogram category.The boxers will get 800 US Dollars or about 53 thousand rupees every month till August next year, provided they qualify for the Olympic Games. The will also get an additional 5,000 US Dollars or about 3 lakh 34 thousand rupees to cover their transportation cost for participation in the Olympic qualifying events.
