Shiv Shankar Menon says, India rules out resumption of composite dialogue with Pakistan

India has ruled out the resumption of composite dialogue with Pakistan. The National Security Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon said in a book release function on Wednesday in New Delhi that going back to the same process did not make sense, as India have to learn from history. He said that the recent Foreign Secretary-level talks between two countries were aimed at exploring whether discussions could be taken forward. Just a day ago, the foreign secretary Mrs. Nirupama Rao, during her Washington visit, also ruled out resumption of composite dialogue till Islamabad guarantees to control the terrorism by its authorities. Pakistan has been repeatedly pressing for resumption of composite dialogue under which eight specific issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, were being discussed before it was halted in the wake of Mumbai attacks. On the recent talks, Menon said he was not in a position to describe the end state or the outcome, but after the first round of talks between the two Foreign Secretaries, it had to be seen where the discussions could be taken in the future. The Defence Minister A K Antony also recently said that the foreign secretary level talks were not going to bring any miracle as more than 40 terrorist camps are operating on Pakistan’s soil.<br/>
