Shiv Shankar Menon is appointed new National Security Advisor

Former Foreign Secretary, Shiv Shankar Menon will be the new National Security Advisor. AIR correspondent quoting highly placed sources reports that his name has been cleared at the highest level and formal orders from the DOPT are expected any moment. <br/><br/>Mr. Menon started his career in Indian Foreign Service in 1972 and served with distinction in every portfolio allotted to him by the External Affairs Ministry and in the Indian Embassy in Beijing, Vienna and Tokyo. He held several rounds of crucial discussions with American establishment along with the senior officers in the Prime Minister's Office to successfully ink the Indo-US civil nuclear agreement. <br/><br/>Mr Menon worked very hard to convince nuclear suppliers group go get a clear waiver for nuclear supplies to India. He replaces Mr. M.K. Narayanan who has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal.
