With only a month left for Assembly elections in Maharashtra, tension is growing between Bharatiya Janata Party and its long-time ally Shiv Sena with both parties still not yet arriving on a conclusion on the seat-sharing formula.
Both parties are firm on their stand with BJP demanding 135 seats and Shiv Sena denying to compromise on the number.
Shiv Sena President Udhhav Thackarey while speaking to media in Mumbai today, made it clear that his party wants alliance with the BJP and he will not do anything that may endanger their alliance. However, he also said that Shiv Sena will not accept BJP's demand of 135 seats for upcoming Assembly elections.
Meanwhile BJP General secretary, Rajiv Pratap Rudy will be in Mumbai today to meet party leaders and workers. According to BJP sources Rudy may also meet Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray to take the seat sharing talks to next level. However, Sena chief has said he is not aware of any such meeting.
Recently, Uddhav Thackeray while claiming credit for gaining major share of seats in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha polls had said that Modi wave had failed to give desired results in certain states.
This had angered BJP workers. Reacting to this, BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said that BJP will not tolerate any comments on the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
