Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray demanded that the Government should arrest Indian journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik and put him in prison for meeting Jammat-ul-Dawa leader Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. He also said that he will personally meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard.
Uddhav Thackeray while addressing party workers’ meeting in Jalgaon in north Maharashtra today, said if Vaidik has indeed met with the terror mastermind it amounts to sedition. The BJP government should not defend him in any way given the fact he is a close aide Baba Ramdev. Earlier in the day, Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ in its editorial had stated that Vaidik issue was a question of National security.
Thackeray said Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar’s had instructed district collectors to discourage farmers in Maharashtra from going on strike. But despite orders, if collectors are not meeting farmers they should be ashamed of themselves.
Thackeray further said Shiv Sena MLA Suresh Jain’s imprisonment is unfair as Padamsinh Patil and Kripashankar Singh are roaming free despite cases of murder and corruption pending against them. The Congress-NCP government does not want to take action against its leaders but have put Suresh Jain in prison.
