Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray passes away

Shiv Sena patriarch Balsaheb Thackeray is no more. He died at his residence Matoshree in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on Saturday afternoon. 87 years old Bal Thackeray was suffering from multiple organ failure.Dr. Jalil Parker, who was treating Balasaheb told media persons in Mumbai that Thackeray suffered a heart attack and they could not revive him despite their best efforts. He said Bal Thackeray breathed his last at around 3:30 P.M. His health has been deteriorating since Wednesday. He is survived by sons Jaidev and Uddhav, who is the Executive President of the party.

Senior party leaders and Bal Thackeray’s nephew and MNS chief Raj Thackeray along with family members and other political leaders have rushed to ‘Matoshree.’ Security has been tightened there since afternoon.

President Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the death of Shiv Sena Chief Balasaheb Thackeray.

Vice President Hamid Ansari said, he was grieved to learn about the sad demise of Balasaheb Thackeray. He said, Thackeray throughout his life remained committed to well-being of the people of Maharashtra and made significant contributions to public . Ansari expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and the wide circle of his admirers.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has condoled the death of Bal Thackeray. He has canceled the dinner he was to host on Saturday evening for BJP leaders because of Thackeray's death on Sushma Swaraj's request.

BJP President Nitin Gadkari condoled the death of Bal Thackeray. He said Bala Saheb inspired the countrymen as a leader, Journalist and Cartoonist. He said, this is a big loss for the BJP and the country. Senior BJP leader BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said she was pained to hear that the lion is dead.Senior BJP leader Mr L.K Advani has also condoled the death of Shiv Sena Chief Balasaheb Thackeray. Advani termed Thackeray as a great man who left an indelible imprint in national and state level politics. His death left a gapping void in the politics of the country which will not be easy to fill, he said.
