Senior Shiv Sena leader Madhukar Sarpotdar passed away in Mumbai on Saturday after a brief illness. He was 75 years old. <br/><br/>The former Sena MP was admitted to Hinduja Hospital at Mahim in Mumbai earlier this week following severe chest pain. In 2008, Sarpotdar was convicted by a magistrate court in Mumbai for inciting communal sentiments during the 1992-93 riots in the city. <br/><br/>A session court later granted him bail in the case. Sarpotdar was twice elected as an MP and once as a Member of Legislative Assembly and also Member of Legislative Council. In 2005, he had unsuccessfully contested against Congress candidate Priya Dutt from Mumbai North-West parliamentary constituency.
