Shiv Sena, BJP reach sear-sharing agreement for Maharashtra polls

The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance has announced its seat sharing formula for the forthcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections at a press conference in Mumbai on Saturday. As per the agreed formula, the Shiv Sena will contest 169 of the 288 Assembly seats and the BJP the other 119. The BJP's first list of candidates would be announced in New Delhi later on Friday. The Sena-BJP seat-sharing understanding comes a week after the Third Front announced its plan to contest 200 seats. Though the Congress-NCP has agreed in principle to fight the elections jointly, their list of candidates will be finalized soon. Today is the second day for filing nominations for the assembly elections in Maharasthra, 15 nominations were filed yesterday .
