Shiv Sainiks attack Marathi channel office; assault journalists

In Mahrashtra, a group of 20 to 25 Shiv Sena activists today attacked journalists and damaged property at the office of IBN Lokmat, the Marathi news channel of the IBN Network, at north-east Mumbai’s Vikhroli suburb.<br/>The news channel claimed that the attackers were shouting slogans in support of the Shiv Sena and its Chief Bal Thackeray and were particularly looking for Mr. Nikhil Wagle, who is the editor-in-chief of IBN Lokmat. Shiv Sena leader, Mr. Sanjay Raut has accepted that the attack was conducted by Shiv Sainaks but added that it was not by order but a voluntary reaction to the comments made by the channel against their leader.<br/>Taking cognizance of the attack, Chief Minister, Mr. Ashok Chavan has said that nobody has the right to assault journalists and such things would not be tolerated. He has promised to take strict action against those involved in the attack. Meanwhile, Mumbai police has arrested seven Shiv Sena workers for the attack.
