Shiromani Akali Dal and Sant Samaj combine has won 157 seats out of total 170 seats for which polling was conducted on 18th of this month. 13 seats have been won by Independents or candidates of other parties. Polling for SGPC was held in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Union Territory Chandigarh. Although counting was completed on the polling day but officially results have been declared on Thursday. President of SGPC Avtar Singh has been declared winner from Ludhiana. This election is conducted by Union Home Ministry in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh and Sikh voters participated in these elections. Deputy Commissioners of different districts distributed certificates to successful candidates.
