In Kerala, the Ambalapuzha Judicial First Class Magistrate Court remanded Mayur Veerendra Kumar, the seaman attached to the Singapore flagged merchant vessel MV Prabhu Daya to 14 days judicial custody this evening. The seaman was arrested yesterday in connection with the killing of three fishermen, when the merchant vessel collided with a fishing boat off the coast of Alappuzha on March 1.
He was directing the ship at the time of the collision. A police team from Kerala led by the IG, Ernakulam Range, K Padmakumar arrested Mayur Veerendra Kumar on Thursday from the vessel, anchored outside Chennai harbour.
