Deep sea divers of the Southern Naval Command in Kochi has left for the accident spot off the coast of Alappuzha, where a merchant vessel hit a fishing boat on Thursday, leaving two fishermen killed and three missing. This follows the finding of the suspected debris of the boat involved in the collision with the merchant vessel. Meanwhile, the India-owned, Singapore flagged merchant vessel, suspected to be involved the collision has been asked by the Director General of Shipping to reach the nearest Indian port. The ship is likely to reach Chennai harbour on Saturday. Officials from the Mercantile Marine Department from Kochi also will be reaching Chennai, in connection with their investigation into the accident.
