Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, has expressed regret after his Liberal Democratic Party, LDP suffered a crushing defeat in Sunday's Tokyo Metropolitan assembly election. <br/><br/>Speaking to reporters for the first time since the election, Abe, today said the election result is an indication of voters' severe displeasure with his party. He said the LDP should reflect deeply on the result. <br/><br/>Prime Minister also said his government should not allow national politics to stagnate, and that he will continue carrying out his policies while reflecting on what needs to be done to regain the people's trust. The LDP took 23 seats, fewer than half of its pre-election total of 57. The number is also far less than its worst-ever result in a Tokyo assembly vote.
