Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde is visiting Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab beginning tomorrow to review the security situation in forward areas along Indo-Pakistan border, including Kargil. This will be his first visit to the two border states as Home Minister. According to a Home Ministry Official, during the two-day tour, the Home Minister will visit forward border guarding posts in Leh, Kargil and Attari-Wagah and interact with jawans and officers. He will also take stock of the security situation along the border and hold review meetings with senior officers of Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force and Border Security Force.
The Home Minister will visit forward posts in Kargil and Leh tomorrow while on Sunday he will tour Wagah and some other border posts and review the situation there.
Mr. Shinde will also interact with local people in Kargil, Leh as well in some villagers on Punjab border.
The Minister is also likely to visit Srinagar next week to review the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
