The Centre has asked all state Chief Ministers to be careful while arresting youth from the minority communities. Replying to a question during his monthly press conference , Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that he has written to all the Chief Ministers to release the innocent people immediately who are languishing in jail without trial. Mr Shinde also said, he is looking at appointing a screening committee in all states for reviewing cases against the people of minority community languishing in jail without trial.
Mr Shinde also disclosed that the government is to push six anti-graft framework bills during Parliament session starting next month to pass vote on account. Mr Shinde said, the decision in this regard was taken at the Core Group meeting of the Congress party held earlier in the day.The bills likely to be pushed during the session include Public Procurement Bill, the Prevention of Corruption Act (Amendment) Bill, the Prevention of Bribery of Foreign Public Officials and Officials of Public International Organisations Bill and the Whistleblowers Protection Bill.
On the alleged surveillance of a women by the Gujarat government, the Home Minister said that the Centre will decide to appoint a judge for the judicial commission on snoopgate within two days. The Union Cabinet had approved a proposal to set up a commission of inquiry to look into incidents of physical and electronic surveillance in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Delhi, allegedly without authorization. The commission has to submit its report within three months.
During his press conference, Mr Shinde also appealed to the members of CPI Maoist to give up their armed struggle and join the mainstream. He said, all the surrendered people will be treated well as per the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the government. He was referring to surrender of a top Maoist leader Venkatakrishna Prasad who had surrendered before Andhra Pradesh police recently.
Replying to a question on the passage of Telangana bill in the coming session of Parliament , Home Minister said that the President has given a time to the state assembly till 23rd of this month to send back the proposal. He said once the Bill comes to the government it will be placed before the Parliament. He also said that Congress and UPA government are committed to pass the bill at the earliest.
Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said as per his information, underworld don Dawood Ibrahim is in Pakistan at this moment. Mr. Shinde was replying to a question in this regard at the monthly press conference of his ministry in New Delhi today. He said that he had also held discussions with US Attorney General during his visit to evolve the strategy to nab the underworld don.
On the security cover to Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, Mr. Shinde said the CM had refused to take any security twice but even then Delhi police is extending some security cover to him on the basis of its assessment.
