Shinde: No conclusion in Bangalore blast by NIA

Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde has said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has not so far got any conclusion in the Bangalore blast case. However, the owner of the bike used in the blast has been traced with the help of Tamil Nadu police. Mr Shinde was replying to questions by media after presenting the monthly report on the performance of his ministry in New Delhi this evening.

He said investigations into the Bangalore blast are still on.

The Home Minister said so far, no links could be traced between the Hyderbad bomb blast and the Bangalore incident. Mr Shinde said the Centre has been alerting the states that the terror attacks are likely to take place in the areas where they were earlier attacked. The Home Minister, however, made it clear that the assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on schedule.

Mr Shinde said the Punjab government's plea for clemency for Khalistani terrorist Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, who was awarded death penalty, is under Centre's consideration. The Home Minister said that one mercy petition is lying with him and two with the President. He, however, refused to disclose the names saying secrecry must be maintained in such matters.

The Home Minister said that he has ordered a time-bound enquiry into the alleged heckling of the West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra in New Delhi recently. He said it will take six to seven days.
