Shinde: Enough evidence of involvement of anti -social elements from Pak

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said there is enough evidence of the involvement of anti -social elements using social media networking sites from Pakistan to whip up communal sentiments and create scare among people of north eastern region living across India.

Talking to media outside Parliament, Mr Shinde said that the investigation is on. He, however, refused to comment in detail on the issue.

Pakistan had earlier rejected India’s assertions that rumours were generated from that country through cellular services, and asked New Delhi to provide evidence in this regard. Mr Shinde had earlier on Sunday expressed concern to his Pakistan counterpart Rehman Malik over telephone on the issue of social media-networking sites being misused by elements based in Pakistan. He sought Pakistan’s full cooperation in checking and neutralizing such elements.

AIR correspondent adds that Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh yesterday said that bulk of hate messages and morphed pictures through several websites from Pakistan have been denied access and thus blocked by the Government.
