Shinde: CMs to be taken into confidence on formation NCTC

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said that Chief Ministers of all States would be taken into confidence on the formation of National Counter Terrorism Centre, NCTC. He said that he will discuss the issue with all States and will try to resolve their apprehensions. In his first ever press conference in New Delhi, after taking over the charge of Home Ministry, Mr Shinde said that the work of National Population Register is in progress and 4.85 crore people have been registered under the scheme so far.

Mr Shinde said, the government is also considering to reduce the educational qualification to give chance to the local youth of Naxal affected States. He said it will be better to recruit unemployed youth of these areas in police force. This is being considered on the line of recruitment done in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr Shinde said that he is also considering for new posts for intelligence gathering. The Minister, however said that Intelligence Bureau, IB is also doing wonderful job but these posts will be created as a subsidary of IB. Mr Shinde said that the main purpose is that the people collecting intelligence are not identified.

In reply to a question regarding agitation against the Kodakulam Nuclear Plant, Mr Shinde said that some foriegn NGO are involved in it and are supporting their movement. He said government is aware of it and appropriate action will be taken against them.He said energy is need of hour. Mr Shinde said power generated by Nuclear Plants will be cheaper than the power generated with any other plant.
