Shinde arrives in Kargil

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde has arrived in Kargil to begin a 2 day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab to review the security situation in forward areas along Indo-Pakistan border. This is his first visit to the two border states as Home Minister. Shinde will visit forward border posts in Leh, Kargil and Attari-Wagah and interact with jawans and officers.

In Kargil, Shinde had a meeting with the Hill Council Kargil and District Administration along with Ladakh Affair Minister Adul Rahim Rather. Addressing the meeting, Shinde said Kargil will soon come up on the civil air service map along with helicopter Service to Zanskar. He said the Airport Extension work will be completed within 2 years. Work on Zojjila Tunnel has started and the work on the second phase will begin soon. On recruitment of Local Talents in Central Belt Forces, Shinde said there will be a special recruitment on 8th class basis in BSF for North East States and Jammu and Kashmir including Kargil.
