Kerala Governor Sheila Dikshit today resigned from her post. Confirming this at a news conference in New Delhi today, Ms. Dikshit said, she will comment on her future only after her resignation is accepted. Her resignation came a day after she met President Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

She joins the list of Governors appointed by the UPA government, who have been eased out of Raj Bhawans ever since the new government came to power at the Centre.

Meanwhile, the Government has appointed new Governors in Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.

A communique by Rashtrpati Bhawan said Kalyan Singh will be the Governor of Rajasthan, Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala for Karnataka, Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao for Maharashtra and Mridula Sinha for Goa.
