Bangladesh is hopeful of signing an agreement with India by December this year to facilitate connectivity with Nepal and Bhutan via India. Communications minister for Bangladesh Syed Abul Hossain told reporters after a meeting with the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit New Delhi in December during which the interconnectivity treaty and other unresolved issues will be settled. Earlier in September this year, India had agreed to facilitate connectivity between Nepal and Bangladesh and Bhutan and Bangladesh in a joint press statement issued after the Bangladesh Foreign minister Dr. Dipu Moni’s visit to New Delhi. India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty also held talks with the Bangladesh Minister for Shipping. AIR Dhaka Correspondent reports that the meeting focused on the procedural modalities to facilitate transportation of over dimensional Consignments for the Palatana Power Project in Tripura through Ashuganj Port.
