Minister of state for Human Resource Development, Shashi Tharoor today emphasised on universalisation of education with focus on quality. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi after assuming charge,Mr Tharoor asserted that the big issue according to him would be making education relevant for all along with access, quality and the universalisation aspect.

Making a strong case for an IIT in his home state of Kerala, the minister said, Kerala is a very education conscious state, even the poorest of the families are concerned about the education of children. Mr Tharoor said education and opportunities emerging from it can persuade the youth to desist from going the way of Naxalites and Maoists.
