Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma has decided to hold consultations with all stakeholders next week in the light of recent index of industrial production (IIP) figures and the evolving industrial situation.According to an official release, Mr. Sharma has expressed concern over the drop in industrial performance in recent months. In the first meeting, Mr Sharma will meet the industry chambers like FICCI and CII along with FIEO.He has also called a meeting of the Government-Industry Task force to review the situation and suggest remedial measures.The Task Force is the established mechanism of obtaining inputs from the captains of the industry in the policy making process.On Thursday, the Commerce and Industry Minister met Finance Minister P Chidambaram and discussed issues related to the country's exports, imports, trade deficit and IIP.
