Sharapova crashes out at Aussie Open

In the Australian Open Tennis, former champion Maria Sharapova crashed out of the Championship on Monday. Sharapova, a former world number one and the 2008 winner, was a shadow of her former self against Maria Kirilenko, losing 7-6, 3-6, 6-4. Meanwhile, fellow Russian and second seed Dinara Safina charged into the second round defeating Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova 6-4, 6-4. Belgian Kim Clijster defeated Valerie Tetreault of Canada, 6-0, 6-4 to enter the second round. Among the Men's draw, defending Champion Rafael Nadal and fifth seed Andy Murray begin their Australian Open campaigns today as title favorite and top seed Roger Federer sits out day one.
