Belgian Kim Clijster defeated Valerie Tetreault of Canada, 6-0, 6-4 to enter the second round. Among the Men's draw, defending Champion Rafael Nadal and fifth seed Andy Murray begin their Australian Open campaigns today as title favorite and top seed Roger Federer sits out day one.
