Sharad Yadav elected as JD-U National president for third consecutive term

JD(U) is critical of Narendra Modi in handling the Gujarat riots. Briefing reporters in New Delhi about the two day party national executive meeting which began today, the party General Secretary K C Tyagi said that Modi has failed in discharging his duties as the head of the state to check communal riots in Gujarat in 2002.

Tyagi also said Nitish Kumar not JDU's PrimeMinisterial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.The party has clarified that it has not given any ultimatum to BJP to declare its Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 General Elections. Tyagi however said that party will not comprise on secularism issue.

He said party will pass various resolutions including the present political scenario and foreign policy tomorrow. Replying to a question, Tyagi alleged that Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi failed to discharge his duties as the head of the state to check communal riots in Gujarat in 2002.

In the meeting, Sharad Yadav has been elected as JD(U) national president for a third consecutive time.
