NCP Chief Sharad Pawar today clarified on his reported remarks that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be the most credible face of anti-BJP alliance in 2019 General elections. He said that he had not talked about Prime Ministerial candidate. Talking to reporters outside Parliament today, Mr. Pawar said he had spoken about Mr. Kumar's appeal to all secular parties to come together and take on the BJP. He said that JD(U) leader's proposal is a good initiative in the present scenario as he thinks none of the opposition parties is able to provide a creditable alternative in the country.

NCP Chief also said Congress President Sonia Gandhi is the cementing force in her party and that is why her leadership might be preferred by the main opposition party to stay united. He also claimed that BSP Chief Mayawati's position is strong for the next assembly elections in the state. Earlier, Mr. Pawar had expressed same view in an interview to an English daily.
