NCP leader and former Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today assured the onion cultivators that a delegation of traders and farmers will be sent to Delhi soon to meet the government in order to find a solution to the current situation and demand a clear policy on onion.<br />'' <br />''He said the onion import-export policy is entirely under the purview of the central government.<br />'' <br />''He also alleged that the Centre's stand on the onion issue is to oppose the export, support the import and restrict stocking of the commodity which is not in the interest of farmers.<br />'' <br />''Pawar, who is on a visit to Nashik, met the onion traders and farmers at Bhujbal Knowledge City today and discussed the situation created due to the Centre-imposed stock limit on the staple.<br />'' <br />''For the last three days, all onion auctions have been closed by traders in 12 market committees in Nashik district due to which the onion traders and farmers are facing economic losses.<br />'' <br />''Speaking on the occasion, Pawar said that the problems of onion farmers and traders could only be resolved by the central government.<br />'' <br />''Pawar also appealed to the farmers and traders not to stop the auction of onions and said the state government would take notice of companies selling onion seeds at higher rates in the state and take action against such companies.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">To contain onion prices, the Centre, last week, imposed stock holding limit on retail and wholesale traders till December 31 to improve the domestic availability of the commodity and provide relief to consumers.</span><br />
