Shantaram Naik of Congress party was on Friday re-elected as Rajya Sabha MP from Goa. He defeated Damodar Naik of BJP by ten votes. Shantaram Naik polled twenty four votes while Damodar Naik polled fourteen votes. One vote was found invalid while one member abstained from voting. In forty member Goa state Legislative Assembly Congress party has twenty members, BJP fourteen, MGP two and NCP three and one independent.
