The first train with all coaches equipped with surveillance cameras was remotely flagged off from New Delhi by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today. <br/><br/>All 21 coaches of the Shan e Punjab Express train are fitted with surveillance cameras. <br/><br/>Four to Six cameras have been provided per coach and these have been strategically placed so that entire area inside coaches can be covered. Video footage is being recorded on a portable storage device. <br/><br/>Live video stream of ladies coach is also available on an LCD monitor provided in Guard's Compartment for prompt action. <br/><br/>Mr Prabhu had earlier pronounced that provision of surveillance cameras for security of women passengers will be started in Shan-e-Punjab. <br/><br/>Our correspondent reports provision of CCTV cameras in coaches would help Railways in mitigating crime during rail travel, especially against women passengers.
