The executive body meeting of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee(SGPC), today gave its approval to the amendments in the Nanakshahi calander with majority vote. Talking to newsmen after the meeting SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar said the decision has been taken as per the directions of the Jathedars (chiefs) of five Takhts. <br/><br/>Five Jathedars after two days parleys over the issue last week had sent their report to the SGPC executive which were accepted by it. The executive body also added a few more amendments in the Nanakshahi calander which was implemented in 2003 by Sri Akal Takht Sahib Amritsar. He said that now all the first days (sangrands) of all Indian months ,birth anniversary (parkash utsav) and joti jot samouna divas(death anniversary) of Guru Gobind Singh and martyrdom day of Guru Arjan Dev ji will be observed according to the Bikrami era calendar. The objective of amendments is to bring uniformity in all the five Sikh Takhts to celebrate various gurpurabs.<br/><br/> Final nod for approval will be announced from the Dias of Akal Takht by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh.
