Sexual harrasment case: Govt mulls fresh SC probe against Justice Ganguly

The Government is contemplating the option of a fresh Supreme Court inquiry against Justice A K Ganguly into the allegation of sexual harassment by a law intern against him .

Sources said the Home Ministry has sought the opinion of the Law Ministry in this regard. The move comes after President Pranab Mukherjee sent to the Home Ministry, two letters written by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who wanted urgent appropriate action against the judge.

Meanwhile, Justice Ganguly has sought four weeks' time to respond to the National Commission for Women to explain his position in the case.
