Goa Police today filed an FIR against senior journalist Tarun Tejpal, editor-in-chief and publisher of Tehelka newsmagazine, for allegedly assaulting a woman colleague.

The FIR accuses Tejpal of attempt to rape and outraging the modesty of a woman.Our Panaji correspondent reports the state Police has sent a team to Delhi to interrogate Tejpal.

Meanwhile, Tarun Tejpal offered to extend the fullest cooperation to the police and all other authorities and expressed readiness to present all the facts of this incident to them.

In a statement issued soon after a case was filed against him in Goa, Tejpal said he issued an apology for the alleged misconduct” as demanded by the victim.
