Severe tropical storm Saola may bring heavy rains

A severe tropical storm Saola is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds to Japan's Pacific coast. Japan Meteorological Agency today said, the storm is now situated 180 kilometers south-southeast of Cape Muroto in Kochi Prefecture and moving east-northeast at a speed of 40 kilometers per hour. Officials in Miyazaki Prefecture said two people were injured in the prefecture.<br/><br/>Weather officials have warned of violent winds, high waves, mudslides, swollen rivers, floods, lightning and tornados. The severe tropical storm Saola has caused disruption to air traffic in Japan. A total of 57 flights have been canceled today, mainly to and from Kyushu and Okinawa. Airlines have urged passengers to check their websites for the latest flight information.
