Severe heat wave across India

Severe heat wave conditions are prevailing over the northern and western parts of India. Highest maximum temperature of 46.6 degree celsius was recorded today at Idar in Gujarat. Most parts of Northen India – Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh – are reeling under heat wave conditions. In Delhi, the maximun temperature was recorded at 43.7 degree celsius which is the highest in this season. Minimum temperature was recorded at 26.5 degreee celsius which is also 6 degree above the normal. AIR correspondent reports that <br/><br/>Delhites continued to swelter under scorching heat wave conditions with the city recorded a 30-year high temperature during the day. Power and water shortages in some parts of the city also added woes to the people.The power demand has risen to 3750 megawatt which may increase in the coming days. Delhi government has requested the centre to allocate more power to the city to meet the demand and supply gap. Weatherman says there will be no let up in the heat wave for two to three days and the temperature is likely to rise upto 44 degree celsius tomorrow.
