Severe cold wave continues to grip Delhi

The national capital continues to be under the grip of severe cold wave with chilly winds keeping the mercury levels well below normal. The day temperatures today hovered around 11 degrees, almost ten degrees below normal. AIR correspondent reports that people preferred to stay indoors as this was one of the coldest day of the season so far.”People in Delhi preferred to remain within the warm environs of their homes for most part of the day to protect themselves from the biting cold. With mercury falling as low as ten degrees below normal, the capital is shivering in this chilling winter. And fog has only worsenned the situation by disrupting road, rail and air traffic. And the chill is only going to intensify as weathermen expect the cool winds to keep the mercury low in the coming days. But with the Government extending the school vacations due to cold conditions, seems atleast students have something to cheer about in the intense cold.”
