Cold conditions tightened grip in Jammu and Kashmir while higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh reeled under intense cold due to chilly winds which lowered the temperature in other parts of north India today. Famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, which received a fresh spell of snow on Saturday, was the coldest place in the valley with a low of minus 9.5 degrees Celsius. There was no let up in cold wave in Ladakh region where Leh recorded a low of minus 10.6 degrees Celsius. Higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh faced intense cold due to chilly winds though Shimla, the Queen of Hills, enjoyed a another sunny day with a daytime temperature of 13.7 degrees Celsius. Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti district, was the coldest place with night temperature of minus 7.3 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh recorded a drop by up to four degrees Celsius below normal at some places, renewing cold conditions in the region. A cold morning greeted the people of Delhi, where mercury hovered around 10 degrees Celsius.
