Severe cold sweeps across North and eastern states

Severe cold sweeps across north and eastern states of the country. Entire area of Ladakah region of Jammu and Kashmir continues to reel under intense cold wave. The ongoing construction works have been suspended for the last two days. Leh-Sringar National Highway and Leh-Manali Highway have also been closed for traffic due to snowfall at the passes. More from our correspondent: Uttarakhand continues to be in the grip of severe cold. MET Department says there will be no major change in weather conditions in the next 24 hours in the state. Intense cold wave is also sweeping across Orissa's Kandhmal district for the last one week paralysing normal life. Our correspondent has more on this.
