Severe cold continues to grip north India

Severe cold conditions continued to grip north India. Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir is reeling in intense cold. Leh town recorded a minimum of minus 17.3 Degrees Celsius this morning affecting normal life.

AIR correspondent reports, there is no sign of relief from biting cold wave condition as it is further tightened its grief in the region. With minimum temperature settled at Minus 17.3 Degree Celsius this morning, Leh town remained the coldest town in the entire north India. The cloudy weather throughout the day today also affected the normal life. Freezing of diesel due to the intense cold weather, the diesel run vehicles have to warm through heating to start.

The state's summer capital Srinagar registered a further drop in the minimum temperature with the mercury plummeting to minus 3.7 degrees Celsius.

In Rajasthan also normal life continued to be affected in parts of the state with Churu and Mount Abu recording temperatures below freezing point. Beside biting cold, civic water supply in Churu got frozen today as the town recorded minus 0.5 degree Celsius. Mount Abu was even colder with minus 1.0 degree Celsius recorded last night. Reports say icy flakes were seen in upper layer of Nakki lake in Mount Abu.

Cold wave condition continued in western parts of Uttar Pradesh. The day’s temperature recorded one to three degrees Celsius below normal in Gorakhpur, Moradabad, Bareilly and Allahabad divisions.
