In Afghanistan, several suicide bombers targeted a NATO compound in the western city of Herat on Monday, sparking a clash with Afghan and foreign forces. Fighting is still going on as casualties are feared among foreign and Afghan soldiers. Initial reports said a suicide bomber detonated his vehicle outside the office of NATO's Provincial Reconstruction Team in the centre of the city, while several other bombers stormed the compound. Smoke was seen coming out of the compound while at least two vehicles were destroyed in the blast.
