Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda today said that Andaman and Nicobar Islands Administration has taken several steps to protect the Vulnerable Tribal Groups from the COVID pandemic.<br />'' <br />'' He said, officials from the Ministry are in regular touch with local administration in Port Blair, working for the welfare of indigenous tribal groups in the island. There are six notified scheduled tribes in the islands. Except Nicobarese, the rest of the five tribes – Great Andamanese, Jarawa, Sentinelese Onge and Shompen are recognized as vulnerable tribal groups.<br />'' <br />'' Jarawa have been advised to stay in smaller groups to avoid any possible spread in an event of COVID-19 outbreak. Some Andamanese tribals have been tested positive with mild symptoms or asymptomatic. Out of which, three tribals have been recovered and remaining are in GB Pant Hospital as an abundant precaution or in home isolation. <br />''
